The Saturday Brew: BUG Control
One of the first deck I ever fell in love with in Legacy was Team America. I loved the black, blue, and green combination along with discard, counter spells, and awesome creatures. The BUG color combination brought me to BUG Control, my first Legacy deck. Since then, BUG has made a huge leap forward with Shardless BUG and BUG Delver. I want to get back to the roots of BUG, though. I don't want to play those types of decks.
I know that now with the addition of Deathrite Shaman and Snapcaster Mage, there is not really a reason not to play a few creatures in our deck, but I want to limit those at much as possible. I really just want to control the battlefield and win on turn as close to infinity as I need to.
Here's a start:
Lands:25
4x Wasteland
3x Underground Sea
2x Tropical Island
1x Bayou
2x Misty Rainforest
4x Polluted Delta
1x Verdant Catacombs
1x Creeping Tar Pit
3x Mishra's Factory
1x Island
1x Swamp
1x Forest
1x Cabal Pit
Planeswalkers: 6
3x Jace, the Mind Sculptor
2x Liliana of the Veil
1x Garruk Relentless
Other Spells: 29
4x Abrupt Decay
4x Force of Will
2x Pernicious Deed
4x Brainstorm
1x Ponder
1x Damnation
2x Innocent Blood
1x Go for the Throat
2x Life from the Loam
2x Inquisition of Kozilek
1x Maelstrom Pulse
1x Thoughtseize
1x Dismember
2x Counterspell
Sideboard: 15
1x Pernicious Deed
1x Notion Thief
1x Nihil Spellbomb
3x Deathrite Shaman
2x Snapcaster Mage
1x Vendilion Clique
2x Golgari Charm
3x Blue Elemental Blast
1x Extirpate
Yeah, I know I put creatures in the Sideboard, but they are really good sometimes. I wanted a mix of different counter spells, removal, and discard. We have nice win conditions in Jace, Factory, and Tar Pit. I really like winning with lands. People get so tilted when you beat them ten times with a Factory while killing everything they play.
The manabase might not be there right now. Also, the number of each spell might be off. I see a lot of 3x Force in Main and 1x in Side now-a-days. That might be right, also.
This deck might need some work, but I just love trying to come up with decklists that I would play. If you have any suggestions let me know. Its still a work in progress.
Thank you,
Philip
