How to Do a Satin Binding

    • 1). Fold the satin binding over and around one of the edges of the fabric and pin it in place.

    • 2). Sew the binding down, as close to the edges of the satin as possible, using a small zig-zag stitch.

    • 3). At the corner of the fabric, lift the foot of the sewing machine up and clip the threads. Do not clip off the excess satin binding.

    • 4). Fold the binding over the corner to form a pleat and pin it all along the next edge.

    • 5). Sew the next edge down in the same manner as the first, starting a little before the pleat in the corner.

    • 6). Repeat the process for all edges of the fabric.

    • 7). At the end of the binding, fold the raw edges under about 1/4 inch and sew it down on the fabric to finish it.
