How to Do a Satin Binding

- 1). Fold the satin binding over and around one of the edges of the fabric and pin it in place.
- 2). Sew the binding down, as close to the edges of the satin as possible, using a small zig-zag stitch.
- 3). At the corner of the fabric, lift the foot of the sewing machine up and clip the threads. Do not clip off the excess satin binding.
- 4). Fold the binding over the corner to form a pleat and pin it all along the next edge.
- 5). Sew the next edge down in the same manner as the first, starting a little before the pleat in the corner.
- 6). Repeat the process for all edges of the fabric.
- 7). At the end of the binding, fold the raw edges under about 1/4 inch and sew it down on the fabric to finish it.
