How to Tie a Lanyard Around a Pen

    • 1). Measure and cut a 36 inch length of string, cord or ribbon. Any of the three materials will work just fine.

    • 2). Hold together the two ends of the string, cord or ribbon and tie a knot so a loop is formed. This is your lanyard.

    • 3). Hold the knotted end of the lanyard behind the pen near the clip. Leave an inch or two of the loop showing above the pen.

    • 4). Bring the other end of the lanyard up in front of the pen and slip it through the loop. Pull until the lanyard is tight against the pen. This is a lanyard hitch knot.

    • 5). Slide the lanyard hitch knot under the pen clip, and you're ready to carry your pen.
