Types of Hair Buns

    Chignon

    • The chignon is a classic bun hairstyle that has been used for centuries by men and women. It is formed by pulling the hair back into a ponytail. The hair is then wrapped around itself and pinned against the back of the head. Normally, the bun is pinned low and sits near the top of the nape. An easy way to modify the bun is by parting the hair on the center or side of the head rather than pulling the hair straight back.

    Ballerina Bun

    • The ballerina bun earned its name from its popularity among ballerinas. The ballerina bun is made by pulling the hair back tightly and securing it to the crown of the head. The bun can be customized using different types of ribbons and hair ties to wrap around it.

    French Twist

    • The French twist is a formal hair bun. The bun is made by brushing the hair straight back on the head, twisting the hair and rolling the ends of the hair underneath the twist. The bun is then secured to the head using bobby pins or a decorative hair comb. Hair accessories, such as flowers and hair clips, can be used to customize the bun. Decorative pins and hair sticks can be inserted into the bun as well.

    Braided Bun

    • Braided buns are created by incorporating braids into bun hair styles. The above hair styles can be converted into braided bun hair styles by either braiding the section of the hair that is being put into the bun or by braiding the hair on the front or side of the head.
