How to Buy a Gift From Your Baby to Mom

  • 1). Avoid being late with this one. You'll lose all the thrill if you bring home the gift-wrapped bath oil three days late.

  • 2). Include a card with words authored by your baby. Say, "Thanks, Mom, for all the late-night feedings," or, "Thanks for all the hugs and cuddles."

  • 3). Add a footprint or a handprint at the bottom of the card.

  • 4). Consider a typewritten note. Nonsense or not, even a 3-month-old can bang on the keyboard.

  • 5). Think baby-sized gift. Even though you're doing the shopping, you want to keep up the appearance that it could possibly be from your pint-sized little one.

  • 6). Try to think like an infant: Mom would like balloons, right? Or something bright or shiny or yummy?

  • 7). Include your baby in the presentation. Maybe Mom finds the gift in the crib? Or in the baby's lap in his car seat?

  • 8). Use your imagination and let your inner baby pave the way to gift-giving fun.
