How to Make a 3-D Origami Dog

    • 1). Fold the paper in half horizontally. Crease and unfold. Fold the paper in half vertically. Crease and unfold. This creates two creases dividing the paper into four smaller squares.

    • 2). Fold the top left corner down to touch the center of the paper marked by the two creases. Fold down the top right corner down to touch the center of the paper marked by the two creases. This creates a pointed top to the paper with two diagonal flaps.

    • 3). Fold the left flap over at a diagonal angle, so the bottom inner corner touches the outside left edge. Fold the right flap over in the same manner, so it touches the outside right edge.

    • 4). Fold the bottom corner of the left inside folded edge up at a diagonal angle, so it touches the left outside edge of the triangle. Repeat with the right inside folded edge, so its corner touches the outside edge. Crease both and unfold.

    • 5). Fold the outside corner of the left folded flap back vertically on itself, so the corner touches the folded edge. Repeat with the outside corner of the right folded flap.

    • 6). Fold the bottoms of the two flaps up along the previously made diagonal crease from Step 4. Turn the paper over.

    • 7). Mark a triangle on this side of the paper, in your mind's eye, starting from the top point and ending about a fourth of the way in from the outer edges on either side of the paper. Fold the outer edges in to touch the center vertical crease of the paper along the edges of this mental triangle.

    • 8). Fold the two points of paper, extending below the bottom edge up, so the newly folded sides are flush with the bottom edge.

    • 9). Fold up the two bottom points of the triangle at a 45-degree angle and tuck into the two flaps on either side of the center slit. Fold back the top point of the triangle horizontally about an inch down from the point.

    • 10

Fold the paper back in half vertically along the vertical center slit.

    • 11

Fold the side of the paper with the open edge over vertically about an inch in from the edge. Crease and unfold.

    • 12

Pull open the paper on this open side and fold backward along the crease you just made. The top of the paper will naturally bend down at a 45-degree angle as you fold. The paper will sit upright now, when set on the table. It will also have a short muzzle and two upright points for ears.

    • 13

Fold the bottom corner of the paper dog up as a slight angle. Crease and unfold. Pull the paper open and fold backwards on itself along this crease. This creates a tail.

    • 14

Complete your dog by drawing two eyes high on the muzzle and a small nose at the end.
