A 16th birthday is often regarded as a turning point in a teenager's life. If you are planning a Sweet 16 party for your child, party favors can commemorate the special evening for friends and family. As you choose favors, consider the theme of the party and your child's interests to select personalized, meaningful or edible favors. - For a Sweet 16 party with a fairy tale or castle theme, locate a supplier of delicate silver castle ornaments. Have each ornament engraved with the name of your child and the date, and provide one for each guest. If your are planning a formal dinner, place an ornament at each place setting. Tie a brightly colored ribbon to the top of each ornament in a color that coordinates with the theme of the evening.
- If you have the budget, rent a photo booth for your daughter's Sweet 16 party. Place the booth in a corner of the room and encourage guests to take two sets of pictures; one for them and one to place on a special bulletin board for the birthday girl. Teenagers can pile into the booth together for a fun activity, and the photos will be a memorable favor that guests can hang in their lockers at school and on the walls at home.
- If your daughter's guest list includes mostly girls, make delicate, girly party favors using candles. Order special scented candles with "16" or "Sweet 16" on them in block letters; use the colors of the party for a unified theme. Set each candle on a circle of gauze or mesh material, gather the edges over the candle, and tie closed with a ribbon bow. For a special touch, add a rosette, jewel or personalized name tag to each bow.
- For coed parties, make a special candy bar for guests to make their own party favors. Find a selection of clear glass dishes in varying shapes and arrange on a table in the shape of a giant number 16 or your child's name. Fill each dish with a different candy, using colors that coordinate with party decorations. At one end of the table, set out small plastic gift bags or pre-assembled boxes. The table will double as a piece of decor, and guests can fill a bag or a box with the candy of their choosing.
