How to Make Organic Doll Furniture
- 1). General Instructions: Harvest 8 to 10 twigs 1/8- to 1/4-inch in diameter approximately 12 inches long. Measure, mark and cut the twigs to the desired length for the bed, table or chair. Lace the twigs together with strong grass fibers 8 to 10 inches long. Tie a slip knot in the end of one piece of grass. Slip the knot over the end of the outside twig. Weave the grass up and down over the twigs to secure in place. Tie the end of the grass to secure the twigs together.
- 2). Bed -- Cut two twigs 7 inches long (side of the bed) and 6 inches long (head and foot of the bed). Cut four twigs 4 inches long. Overlap the ends of the two 7-inch and 6-inch twigs to form a rectangular picture frame. Secure the four ends of the frame together with the long grass. This is the frame of the bed. Center and place a 4-inch twig on each corner to form the legs for the bed. Secure the legs to the bed with the long grass.
- 3). Bed Mattress -- Stretch six pieces of grass from the head to the foot of the bed. Place the grass evenly between the two sides. Tie the grass into place. Tie seven pieces of grass evenly spaced along one side of the bed. Weave the grass across the stretched grass to the opposite side of the bed. Secure the ends of the grass to the twig.
- 4). Table -- Cut 16 pieces of twig 4 inches long and four pieces 3 inches long. Situate four 4-inch twigs to form a square, which is used as the tabletop frame. Overlap the ends. Tie the four ends together using long pieces of grass. Place the four 3-inch twigs under the frame as the table legs. Lash the table legs to the square table surface.
- 5). Tabletop -- Place the remaining 4-inch twigs across the top of the frame to make the table top. Lash or weave into place with the long grass. Use the same process to make small coffee tables and end tables. Cut the twigs the appropriate lengths.
- 1). Cut the dried grass clippings, flower petals, flower buds and/or leaves into small 1/2- to 1-inch pieces. Place two cups of the dried organic fibers into a blender. Add two cups of water. Close the lid on the blender. Turn the blender on and mix.
- 2). Pour the contents of the blender through a strainer. Allow the mixture to strain for three minutes.
- 3). Select small jewelry boxes to use as forms to shape small tables and shelves. Position the small boxes on a piece of wax paper. Remove the lid and turn the box so the opening is on the bottom.
- 4). Apply the pulp mixture on the top and sides of the box in a layer approximately 1/8- to 1/4-inch thick. Push the pulp to the surface of the box. Allow the mixture to dry on the box for 24 hours.
- 5). Remove the dried paper object from the box. Cut the paper form into the desired shape. Example: Cut a small square from each side of the box to form table legs. Use the same process and place the pulp over other objects to form unique shapes for organic doll furniture.
