How to Reinstall Norton 2006

    • 1). Choose the "Start" and "Run" menu buttons on your computer. Enter "MSCONFIG" at the DOS prompt followed by the "OK" button.

    • 2). Ensure that the "ccAPP" menu check box is selected. If it is not, check it. For a computer that is using Windows XP for its operating system, ensure that the "Services tab" has the following services selected as being active: Symantec Event Manager, Symantec Network Proxy, Symantec Password Validation, Symantec Settings Manager, Symantec Network Drivers Service, ISSVC, Norton AntiVirus Auto-Protect Service, and the Symantec Core LC. For any that are not checked, select the checkbox and igore any missing from the listing.

    • 3). Choose the "Apply" and "OK" menu buttons and restart your computer by choosing the "Yes" button.

    • 4). Select the "Start" and "Control" panel menu buttons after the computer has restarted.

    • 5). Choose the "Add or Remove Programs" menu icon; choose the "Norton AntiVirus" icon and "Remove" button.

    • 6). Select the "Remove" or "Remove All" button and follow the default menu options to complete removal of Norton 2006.

    • 7). Insert the Norton 2006 product CD in the disk drive on the computer. Select the "Install Product" or variant of the menu button that appears on the computer screen. Alternatively, if you purchased Norton 360 via the Symantec web store, double-click the product installation file that you downloaded to your computer to reinstall the application.

    • 8). Select the default menu options on the subsequent menu screens to finish the reinstallation. Restart your computer.
