How to Troubleshoot an Amana Air Conditioner, Model 14M13TA
- 1). Make sure the air conditioner is plugged in to a working electrical outlet. Check the fuse box and replace any blown fuses, or flip any tripped switches on the circuit breaker.
- 2). Change the fan control to "Smart Cool," "Low Fan," "Med Fan," "High Fan," "Energy Saver" or "Fan Only" if the unit does not work at all.
- 3). Check the compressor in four or more minutes if the compressor does not work when you plug the air conditioner in. The compressor lockout function may have tripped, and it will work properly after a short wait.
- 4). Clean the air conditioner's filter if the unit doesn't cool the room properly. Pull the filter handle, located on the left side of the grille, to the left to remove the filter. Wash the filter in warm, soapy water. Rinse and allow it to dry thoroughly. Replace it in the air conditioning unit.
- 5). Allow the fan to run if the air conditioner has resumed operation after a power outage but is not cooling well. The compressor lockout allows the compressor to run again after a short while.
- 1). Put an algaecide tablet into the air conditioner's base pan, located in the bottom portion of the unit, if mildew or mold causes smells to spread throughout your cooling area.
- 2). Check the air conditioner for loose parts. Look over every portion of the unit to identify what may be loose and causing noise, and tighten anything you find.
- 3). Place better support under or around the air conditioner if the unit makes excessive noise due to problems with the building construction.
