How to Shape a Lavender Bush

    • 1). Dehead lavender plants once the flowers begin to fade. This takes place before shaping to cut away any spent flowers that won't produce further flowers or growth. Cut off all flowers and buds that are dead just below where they meet the stem using pruning shears.

    • 2). Shape lavender bushes by cutting each stem three to five leaf nodes below the flower spike using sharp pruning shears.

    • 3). Leave four to five nodes above the ground on the bush. This will allow the bush to acquire new growth the following spring.
