- 1). Rub the scuff marks with a sponge moistened with soapy water. This may be all that is necessary to remove the marks, especially if the wood is painted with a glossy finish or is sealed with a protective finish.
- 2). Dampen a cleaning eraser -- available where cleaning products are sold -- and genlty rub it directly on the scuff marks. The cleaning eraser may lift the scuff marks away.
- 3). Erase the shoe scuff marks off a painted wood surface with a pencil eraser. Sometimes scuff marks come right off. Be gentle, so that you don't also take off the paint's finish.
- 4). Apply a spray lubricant or rubbing alcohol on a clean rag and wipe the scuff marks off.
