How to Make Your Own Gourmet Scented Candles

    • 1). Purchase fancy glass jars to make the candles in.

    • 2). Trim a wick for each jar. It should be the same height as the jar itself.

    • 3). Put a drop of hot glue into the bottom of the first jar, centered in the middle.

    • 4). Hold a wick in the hot glue, standing upright, until the glue hardens. This will hold the wick in place.

    • 5). Add wicks to all of the jars.

    • 6). Melt store-bought candle wax in a double boiler. If you do not have one, fill a saucepan with a few inches of water and put in a clean steel can with wax in it. As the water boils, the can will act as a double boiler.

    • 7). Mix scented oil into the melted wax, a drop at a time, until the desired level of fragrance is reached. Use a small spoon or chopstick to mix the oil into the wax.

    • 8). Mix candle dye into the wax, a drop at a time, until you reach the desired color.

    • 9). Pour the wax into the jars, stopping a half inch from the top.

    • 10

Allow the candles to cool. This will take several hours, depending on the size of the jars.

Decorate the outside of the candle jars by hot gluing ribbons, bows, labels or other items found in the scrapbooking section of a craft store.
