  Halloween lets people of all ages dress up for the day. For preteen girls, this can be a time to collaborate on a costume with your best friend. Coordinating Halloween costumes as preteens means thinking up costumes that are age-appropriate but still fun. These costumes can complement each other or they could be opposites.
  
  

Hannah Montana and Lola Luftnagle

• Best friends Miley Stewart and Lily Truscott are two of the main characters on the popular Disney show "Hannah Montana." Their glamorous alter egos, Hannah Montana and Lola Luftnagle, make a great costume for preteen best friends. A Hannah costume consists of a long blond wig with bangs paired with any rocker-style outfit you can put together. Lola's style is brighter and more eclectic, with lots of patterns such as zebra prints and stripes. Lola wears brightly colored bob wigs like hot pink and electric blue.
  
  

The Grady Twins

• For friends who want a scarier costume, the Grady twins work well. These girls feature prominently in the movie "The Shining," appearing to young Danny Torrance in the halls of The Overlook Hotel. To dress as the twins, you'll need a couple of vintage-looking light blue dresses, tied at the waist with pink ribbon. As for hair, wear it long and straight, parted on the right side and held in place by blue barrettes. Wear paler makeup with darker eye makeup to mimic dark circles for a ghostly look.
  
  

Witches

• Witches are a classic Halloween costume and friends can play around with different witch possibilities. One friend can dress as a good witch, all in white, while the other dresses as a bad witch, in black. Famous movie witches make festive costumes as well, such as Glinda, the good witch, and the Wicked Witch of the West from "The Wizard of Oz." Witchy accessories include a pointy hat, broom and pointy shoes.
  
  

Cheerleaders

• Dressing up as cheerleaders makes you and your friend look like a matched set. Dress as cheerleaders for the same team or as two rival schools' cheerleaders. You can show off spirit for your own school by finding costumes using your school's colors. For a scarier twist on a cheerleader costume, dress up as zombie cheerleaders. This involves adding some makeup to mimic a zombie look to whatever degree of gory you choose.
  
  

'50s Teens

• Dressing as teens from the '50s lets you and your friend celebrate the past. In the 1950s, girls wore poodle skirts, which are skirts that come down just past the knee and feature a poodle appliqué on the front. These skirts most often came in pink or black and were paired with a white blouse, neck scarf and saddle shoes. For hair, wear your hair in a high ponytail tied with a scarf. Cat's-eye framed glasses complete the look.
