How to Repair the Rear Bearing On a Kenmore Dryer
- 1). Disconnect the power cord before working on the Kenmore dryer. Open the dryer door. Remove the screws along the underside of the top panel.
- 2). Insert the putty knife blade above the front panel in the front of the dryer. Pry the panel up on the front corners to disengage the internal locking clips.
- 3). Lift the top panel up. Set the panel against the wall behind the dryer.
- 4). Remove the two screws near the top of the front panel. Disconnect the electrical harness connected to the door switch. Set the front panel aside.
- 5). Move the idler pulley toward the left to relieve belt tension. Slide the belt off of the pulleys. Lift the drum out through the front of the dryer.
- 6). Remove the screws connecting the rear bearing assembly to the rear of the dryer cabinet. Lift the bearing off.
- 7). Position the new bearing inside the Kenmore dryer in place of the old one. Install the screws holding it in place.
- 8). Replace the drum inside the dryer. Position the belt around the two pulleys. Move the idler pulley to the right.
- 9). Replace the front panel. Plug the electrical harness into its socket. Install the two screws holding the front panel in place.

Lower the top panel onto the Kenmore dryer. Replace the screws on the inside of the door frame.
