How to Finance a Bachelor of Science Degree

    • 1). Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This application can be completed online and is required for students to apply for the Stafford Loan and Pell Grant. The Stafford Loan is guaranteed to students regardless of credit or income, as long as other criteria are met. Eligibility requirements include: attending school at least half time or more; be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident; have registered with the Selective Service if the applicant is male and was born after 1959 and not have a previous federal student loan in default or have a federal grant overpayment. Search for scholarships using websites, such as Scholarship Experts. Also, contact your school's financial aid office and inquire about scholarships available for students pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree.

    • 3). Apply for private student loans. Private student loans are approved based upon creditworthiness and are offered by many banks and credit unions.
