How to Recycle Junk Mail at the US Post Office
- 1). Check the list of participating post offices to make sure that yours is on the list. If it isn't, speak to a postal worker to express your interest in the recycling program.
- 2). Retrieve your mail from your PO box as usual and sort it into three piles: junk mail, mail that can be immediately read and responded to and mail that you need to keep.
- 3). Read and immediately respond to any mail that you can and place the mail you no longer need into the appropriately marked, secure container provided by your post office.
