How to Test a PC for Gaming
- 1). Check the system requirements for the video game and compare the information to what your system is running. This information is found by clicking "Start," "Control Panel," "System" and finally "General". Your computer must meet or surpass all the system requirements for the game, including the amount of memory or RAM required to run the game. If it doesn't, the game won't run on the computer.
- 2). Run an anti-virus scan on your computer and remove all viruses and malware running on the computer. These files prevent the video game from running smoothly and may cause the system to crash.
- 3). Download a demo for the game you want to play. These demos are available for free from the manufacturer's website. With the demo you are able to test out your PC to see if it functions well with the game play. If the demo functions smoothly, the actual game should play correctly.
- 4). Install the full video game when setting up the game on your PC. You are given the option to install only the required files and use the CD while playing the game, or to install all files so you don't need the CD. If you install all the files, the game will take up far more space on the hard drive but your game play will be improved.
