Video: Can Highlights Be Done Between Perms?

Video Transcript

Hello, my name is Rachael Francis. I'm a master hair stylist out of Tuckerton, New Jersey, and I've been doing hair for 20 years. In that time I've had a lot of questions. This one in particular is can I get highlights in between perms. Yes, you can get color and highlights in between perms. Your trained professional will know how to attempt on what strength of color to use on your hair because it's been chemically processed. Now if you've had a perm and you already had existing highlights, nine times out of ten your stylist is only going to foil the new growth. So if it's been a month between perm and foil, she's only going to pick up the existing color and touch up the root area of that foil to blend in your color. Your stylist will know the strength of peroxide to use which each color she decides to put on your hair. We are in the business to make sure your hair stays in its absolute best form. Just because it's chemically treated doesn't mean that it is not going to be in its best form. I hope that what I have given you today will help you determine whether or not to continue to get your highlights when you get your hair permed. Thank you and have a great day.
