How to Hog-Tie a Bull

    • 1). Force the bull calf onto its side by sweeping it off its feet, known as flanking.

    • 2). Firmly place your knee and full body weight on the bull's side and loop the rope around any three legs 6 to 10 inches above the hooves.

    • 3). Pass the end of the rope under the longer length of rope and flip it up into the space between the rope and the legs, known as the loop. Pull the rope end through the loop to cinch the half-hitch knot against the legs, drawing the three legs together and completing the hog-tie.
