How to Make Medium Sized Tissue Paper Pom Poms
- 1). Cut the tissue paper into strips that measure 6 inches wide. Cut multiple layers of paper at once to save time.
- 2). Layer three strips of paper on top of each other on the work surface in front of you. Orient the strips vertically so the long edges are at the right and left sides.
- 3). Fold up the bottom edge of all three sheets together, making a 1-inch fold. Push down on the fold to make a sharp crease. Make a second fold backward 1 inch after the first one. Continue folding back and forth to make an accordion shape all the way to the end of the strips.
- 4). Cut a 6-inch piece of quilting thread. Quilting thread is stronger and thicker than regular sewing thread, so it will be more secure on your pom poms. Tie the thread in a tight knot in the center of the folded strip. Pull the thread tightly to bunch up the tissue in the center of the strip.
- 5). Separate all three layers of tissue on each side of the thread tie. The layers will separate into wavy lines and look like a carnation flower. Hold the thread strings after you have separated all the layers and shake the pom pom to fluff it up further.
