Heather Chiasson, 29, was a teacher at South Lafourche High School in Louisiana when she was charged on January 20, 2012, for allegedly having sex with a 17-year-old student.
Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre told reporters that an interview with the student was conducted after police received a tip. Webre said during the interview the student reportedly revealed alleged sexual text messages from Chiasson to the student.

Chiasson has refused to discuss the matter with the police.

She was charged with Prohibited Sexual Conduct between an Educator and a Student, a misdemeanor and has been suspended from her teaching position pending the results of the investigation.
