Nathan Parsons | He Played a Sexy Con Man
Nathan Parsons followed in the footsteps of good-looking Australians on General Hospital -- Tristan Rogers, Rick Springfield, and Ingo Rademacher. The actor joined the cast as Ethan Lovett in January 2009.
Roots
Though originally born down under, Parsons was actually raised in both Colorado and Texas. He worked as a child actor dubbing Japanese anime (ADV) films, primarily Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water, Devil Lady, and Jing: King of Bandits.
He attended University of Southern California in their theater program. His credits before General Hospital include three independent films, Teeth in 2007, The Brotherhood v. Alumni in 2009, and The Roommate (2011). He also made an appearance on a TV show, State of Georgia.
Nathan Parsons on General Hospital
The young actor came to the attention of GH when he read for a role (believed to be Dante). Though he wasn't quite right for that part, the writers created the role of the con artist Ethan Lovett for him.
Initially on recurring status, he caught on with audiences quickly and was put under contract. The actor left the show in 2012 and has since been busy doing other work.
Parsons has stated that he thinks actors should keep an element of mystery about them, so he has not been keen on doing many interviews.
Nathan Parsons Today
Parsons took a fast ride out of Port Charles, traveling to Hermosa Beach, California, to work as a semi-regular on a new series, Bunheads, for ABC Family Network.
The series lasted a year and starred Broadway musical star Sutton Foster, as well as the Gilmore Girls patriarch, Kelly Bishop.
Parsons played a surfer named Godot.
The show had its fans, who were very passionate about it, and for a time, it looked as if Bunheads would be renewed for a second season. In the end, though, it was canceled.
After that, Parsons made a TV movie, The Nightmare Nanny,(one poster on imdb.com asked, "Is Nanny off her rocker?" and a short film, #twitterkills (we knew that title was coming eventually).
Then he received a wonderful opportunity on a hot show. For the final season of True Blood, Parsons replaced Luke Grimes as James. On top of this coup, he signed onto a CW series,The Originals, in which he will play a werewolf named Jackson, hailing from the Louisiana Bayou.
Most recently, he is appearing in a pilot for Amazon, which is continuing its commitment to original programming. The pilot is Point of Honor.
Point of Honor is about a Virginia family, headed by the son, John Rhodes (Parsons) who leaves his home to defend the South in the Civil War but frees all of the family's slaves. His three sisters have to run the plantation in his absence.
Amazon wants viewers to watch the pilot on live streaming, along with six other pilots, and give feedback on what they want to see become a series.
Congrats to Parsons, who is killing it out there!
