How to Make Women's Reversible Wrap Skirts

    • 1). Measure the circumference of your waist. Draw a line that measures twice the circumference measurement near the top of a piece of fabric. Use a fabric pen or piece of chalk to make the line.

    • 2). Make a small dot on the fabric approximately 24 inches down from the center of the line. This is for the length of the skirt; 24 inches makes an above-the-knee-length skirt. You can adjust this measurement according to your preferences.

    • 3). Make a trapezoid from the line and dot on the fabric. Add 15 percent to the length of the first line drawn and draw a line this new length 24 inches from the top line and parallel to the top line. Draw the line so half the length is on one side of the dot and half the length is on the other side of the dot.

    • 4). Use a ruler to complete the trapezoid by drawing a line that connects the two ends of the right side and the two ends of the left side.

    • 5). Cut out the trapezoid from the fabric and use this as a template to cut a second trapezoid from a different piece of fabric.

    • 6). Lay one of the trapezoids on a flat surface and place the other on top with the wrong sides facing each other. Pin the two pieces of fabric in place and sew all four seams using a straight stitch by hand or on the sewing machine.

    • 7). Lay a piece of 1-inch-wide ribbon underneath the long bottom line of the trapezoid so half of the ribbon extends beyond the bottom of the fabric. Pin the ribbon in place and then fold the ribbon over and onto the front of the fabric to edge the skirt in ribbon. Pin the ribbon in place and sew it to the skirt with a straight stitch.

    • 8). Repeat Step 7 to add ribbon to both sides of the skirt.

    • 9). Fold a 2-inch-wide ribbon in half and pin it in place over the top edge of the skirt. Sew the ribbon in place for a finished reversible wrap skirt.
