How to Adjust the Door for Gibson Refrigerator Model GRT18SJFW0

    • 1). Pop the cover off the upper hinge to reveal the two screws securing it to the Gibson refrigerator. If necessary, slide a putty knife between the cover and top of the refrigerator to pry the cover off the hinge.

    • 2). Remove the screws securing the upper hinge to the top of the refrigerator with a Phillips-head screwdriver. Pull the hinge straight off the Gibson refrigerator. Open the freezer door, and grab it on both ends. Lift the freezer door off the center hinge pin, and set it aside.

    • 3). Open the Gibson GRT18SJFW0 refrigerator door, and loosen the three screws securing the center hinge to the refrigerator with the screwdriver. Do not remove the screws; simply loosen them enough to move the hinge.

    • 4). Close the refrigerator door and set a level on the top edge of the door. Move the handle side of the refrigerator up or down as necessary until the door is level. Hold the door at the level position with one hand, and tighten the two top screws on the center hinge with your free hand. Open the door enough to access the bottom screw on the center hinge, and tighten the screw. Close the refrigerator door once all the screws on the center hinge are tight.

    • 5). Install the freezer door back onto the upper pin of the center hinge. Place the top hinge pin into the hole on the top edge of the freezer door, and line up the mounting holes of the hinge with the threaded holes in the top of the Gibson top mount GRT18SJFW0 refrigerator.

    • 6). Thread the two retaining screws into the upper hinge, but do not tighten them. Place the level on the top of the freezer door, and adjust the door as necessary until it is level. The space between the two doors should be even once the freezer door is level.

    • 7). Tighten the upper hinge mounting screws. Push the cover over the upper hinge.
