How do I Install a RTH6300B Programmable Thermostat?
- 1). Shut off the electricity to your heating and cooling system at the main fuse or circuit breaker panel.
- 2). Remove your old thermostat cover and thermostat. Do not remove the wires from the wall plate.
- 3). Disconnect and label each wire one at a time with the labels included with the RTH6300B. Do not rely on wire color. Match the wire to the lettered terminal on your old thermostat. Be careful not to let the wires slip back through the wall.
- 4). Remove your old wall plate from the wall by removing the appropriate screws.
- 5). Pull the RTH6300B apart from the wall plate. Insert the reference card into its slot.
- 6). Pull the wires through the wall plate. Level the wall plate to the wall if desired. Mark each mounting hole location. The RTH6300B does not have to be level for proper operation.
- 7). Drill holes at the mounting locations. Insert the two plastic wall anchors that came with the RTH6300B. Tap the anchors lightly for a tight fit.
- 8). Place the wall plate over the anchors and secure with the two screws. Check the level if desired and tighten the screws.
- 9). Connect each thermostat wire to its corresponding location on the RTH6300B wall plate. Push excess wire back into the wall opening.
