How to Upload Music to an iPhone 3G

    • 1). Download and install the latest version of iTunes if you do not already have it on your computer (see the Resources section of this article). Connect your iPhone to the computer using the USB cable that came with your phone and launch iTunes. Once you launch iTunes, you should see your iPhone in the left panel under "Devices."

    • 2). Click the "Music" tab under "Library" to view the songs that you have in the iTunes library. If you want to upload additional songs to the iTunes library, click the "File" menu, and then click "Add to Library." Select the songs that you want to upload to iTunes from the folder that you saved them in, and then click "Open" to import them to the iTunes library.

    • 3). Create a playlist. To do so, click the plus symbol (+) in the lower left corner and then name the playlist whatever you please. After creating the playlist, click the "Music" tab under "Library." Select the songs that you want to upload to your iPhone and then drag them to the playlist that you created. When you finish adding songs to the playlist, click your playlist and then set the playback order by dragging the songs up or down.

    • 4). Click your iPhone under "Devices" and click the "Music" tab located on the top of the iPhone window. Click the "Sync Music" check-box and then click the "Selected playlists, artists and genres" radio button. Click the playlist that you created and click "Sync." iTunes uploads the songs to your iPhone. You should see a "Sync is complete" confirmation message when the process completes.

    • 5). Right-click your iPhone under "Devices," click "Eject" and then disconnect your iPhone from your computer.
