How to Make an Ark for Kids

    • 1). Fold a heavy duty, dinner-size paper plate in half. Open the paper plate. Cut along the fold line in the center of the plate.

    • 2). Apply glue around the inner curved edge of one of the halves of the paper plate. Press the paper plates together so that the curved edges are facing downward and the straight edges are facing up. Set the plates aside to dry.

    • 3). Gently press on the outer edges of the glued paper plate pieces to make a slightly pronounced opening in the center.

    • 4). Paint the outside surfaces of the paper plates with brown paint. Allow the paint to completely dry.

    • 5). Paint the bottom of another dinner-size paper plate blue, to resemble the water. Allow the paint to completely dry.

    • 6). Cut a slit down the center of the blue paper plate with a craft knife. Insert the bottom of the brown plates into the slit, creating the look of an ark floating on water.

    • 7). Cut out images of animals, or draw and cut out your own images of pairs of animals that were on the ark: giraffes, monkeys and elephants, for example. Apply glue to the bottoms of the animals and adhere them to the inside of the pronounced opening in the center of the ark.
