How to Get Rid of Dialers
- 1). Restart your computer, and press the F8 key as it boots up. When you see a menu of boot options appear, choose the option titled "Safe Mode With Networking" and press the Enter key.
- 2). Enter the login details for your computer's Administrator account into the login window and log into Windows Safe Mode.
- 3). Open your antivirus program, and update the virus definitions using the program's "Update" feature. Once this update has been performed, run a complete scan of your computer with the software. When the scan has completed, remove any infections that are found and close the antivirus program.
- 4). Start your anti-malware program and use its "Update" feature to refresh its list of malware definitions. Once the definitions are updated, run a complete system scan with the anti-malware software. Once it finishes, remove any found infections and close the program.
- 5). Click the "Start" button, then click "Run," then type (without quotes) "msconfig" into the Run box and press OK. In the resulting popup window, click on the "Startup" tab and uncheck any entries that correspond to foreign programs that you do not recognize. Press the OK button when finished.
- 6). Restart your computer and allow it to boot normally. Log in with your regular user account and keep a close eye on your modem settings. As long as a connection is not dialed without your explicit request to do so, then you can assume your machine has been cleaned of the dialer program.
