How to Open an LG Washing Machine
- 1). Disconnect the power cord of the LG washer from the wall outlet. Pull the washer away from the wall and place a bucket underneath the water supply hose connections to the washer.
- 2). Turn the water supply valves off at the wall connection. Remove the water supply hoses from the back of the washer by unscrewing the connections counterclockwise. Set the ends of the hoses inside the bucket.
- 3). Remove the seven screws that secure the back access to the control console with a Phillips-head screwdriver. Lay a towel over the top of the washer and roll the control console forward, resting the face of the console on the towel.
- 4). Label the nine wire harness connectors using masking tape. Place a piece of tape on the wires and mark the wire locations with a pencil on the tape. Pull each wiring harness away from the control console with your fingers.
- 5). Remove the five screws that secure the front edge of the control console to the top of the washer. Lift the control console away from the washer and set the console aside.
- 6). Open the detergent dispenser lid on the top of the washer. Remove the four screws on the inside lip of the dispenser opening with a Phillips-head screwdriver. Lift the dispenser from the top of the washer.
- 7). Place one hand in the dispenser hole and use a putty knife to unlock the retaining spring between the top and front panel. The retaining spring is 6 inches from the front corner of the washer. Push in the retaining spring with the putty knife and lift up the panel from the dispenser hole. Lift the top panel completely off the washer.
- 8). Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the two screws on the top edge of the front panel. Open the LG washer door and insert a flat head screwdriver between the boot spring and the front panel. The boot spring secures the front of the tub boot to the outside of the front panel. Pry the spring off the boot carefully so that you do not damage the boot.
- 9). Tilt the top of the front panel away from the washer, and disconnect the wiring harness from the door switch. The door switch is on the inside right of the front panel.
- 10
Lift the front panel off the tabs at the base of the washer. The washer is now disassembled for complete access to all the working components.
