How to Draw Rose Bulbs
- 1). Draw a longish oval to create the base of the rosebud. Divide the oval vertically into two equal parts. Mark the points where they touch the oval. Name the points "A" (on the top) and "B" (on the bottom). Measure the A-B line with a ruler, find its middle and draw a horizontal line perpendicular to it. Mark the points where they touch the oval left and right, and name them "C" (left) and "D" (right). Mark the midpoint where lines A-B and C-D meet point "E".
- 2). Draw the first petal of the rosebud. Measure the A-E line and find its midpoint. Mark it as "F". From the "F" point, draw a slightly curved line towards the left measuring about the same length as line A-E. This crosses the oval. From the end point, draw a downward line with a slight curve to join the basic oval.
- 3). Draw the second petal to the right of the first rosebud petal in a similar manner. The starting point is the midpoint of line E-B. Draw a curving line outward to the right. This line crosses outside the oval. From the end point of the curved line, draw a downward line to join the basic oval.
- 4). Draw the third rosebud petal. Find midpoints between "D" and "B" on the lower right and "B" and "C" on the lower left. From these two points, draw a slightly curved upwards line to form a triangle. The tip of the triangle crosses point "E".
- 5). Draw three more rose petals. From the middle of the second petal outline, draw an inverted "V", which reaches the tip of the first petal. Draw another inverted "V" to touch the tip of the second petal. Draw another inverted "V" in the middle of the fourth and fifth petals.
- 6). Erase all unnecessary lines, including the lines that cut across each petal. The finished project is a beautiful rosebud with five petals about to open.
- 7). Draw the leaves under the bud by sketching two longish, thin triangles starting from the base of the rosebud upwards to its middle and make the triangle ends sharp.
- 8). Draw a long stem and add tiny, upward triangles for thorns. Use colored pencils to color in the petals, leaves, stem and thorns.
