Craft Ideas for Wrapping Tulle Around Trees
- Cream, white or light-colored tulle generally covers chairs and is draped from ceilings or arches for a wedding design. However, it also softens the appearance of a tree or a set of trees used in an archway or canopy. Wrap tulle loosely from the base of the trees toward the top and slip wedding flowers inside the folds of the fabric that face toward the couple. Fashion a large tulle bow at the base of each tree to complete the look.
- Coordinate the tulle to the theme colors of a quinceanera and pick one that contains sparkles in the design, an extra-feminine touch. Twist strands of tulle together to hold a set of twinkle lights. Wrap a length of this twisted tulle up a tree trunk and around its lower branches. Add faux jewels or crystals, such as white diamonds, blue sapphires, green emeralds or red rubies inside the tulle strand before adding the lights so they reflect the twinkle lights all night long.
- Tulle loses its innocent connotations and turns spooky when hung from a tree for a Halloween decoration. Wrap the ends of a piece of tulle around tree branches to simulate hands and arms hanging on. Cover a helium balloon or white foam ball with the remaining tulle, gather it underneath to form a "neck" and leave a trailing "body" to float in the wind. Drape similar ghosts from different branches using yellow, white or gray tulle. Or braid two different colors of tulle together, such as one orange strand with two black strands, and form them into letters that form the message "Happy Halloween" on a wide tree or hedge.
- Tulle can become a Christmas decoration when two iconic holiday colors are combined into one design. Twist solid white tulle together with red tulle and then swirl it around a Christmas tree in a diagonal stripe reminiscent of a candy cane. Slide small candy canes slide under the twisted tulle to give the decoration another layer of interest. Or simply twist red and green tulle together and use the rope as a more traditional garland accented by traditional ornaments.
