FAN FEEDBACK AND QUESTIONS
Coleen writes: “I just read your commentary on John & Natalie. I am a long time fan of this couple since the character of John graced our screens when he met Natalie for the first time. Since then I've been hooked. What I am tired of is that the character of Natalie gets the blame for everything that is wrong with this relationship. While I know that Natalie has been impulsive in the past, I personally think the term “stand by your man” has been met by this character.
I think the character of Natalie is off. She seems to be drained and has no one to turn too to vent. Of course, that louse Vincent is there and I hate that and of course he is telling her everything she wants to here, but I think John is the one with the communication problems.”
Dear Coleen: I, too, have been a John/Natalie fan from the beginning and it pains me that it has become so difficult to believe that this couple will ever make it. I don’t know what is in the cards for them but it doesn’t look too promising right now. I think the writing has been horrible for this couple. They have never had a break; not even five minutes of happiness before something puts them at odds all over again. I think that John is equally if not more to blame because his outlook on life doesn’t allow him to move forward and that’s a killer for a relationship. I still hold out hope for this couple. I hate when I’ve invested so much and then suffer such disappointment when things don’t work out.
Grace writes: “I get that you are/were a huge Ben and Blondie fan and so was I, but it is time for Viki to move on.
You didn't like Viki with either Governor Brooks actors, now not with Clint. Well for me however I do not want Viki with this new Doctor Doug guy. Why? Because he is a recurring actor, not on contract and the last thing that Erika Slezak needs/deserves is having a recurring actor for a leading man. I don't have any desire to see Viki with anyone but Clint, played by a very nice Emmy winning actor, Jerry ver Dorn, whom Erika respects and loves working with. I happen to like this new Clint and love him with Viki and very much enjoy their chemistry. Jerry ver Dorn was hired for Erika, which I am sure you know.”
Dear Grace: It is true that I feel that if Viki is going to move on it should be with a new man. I don’t think anyone will ever come close to replacing Ben and I still wonder why, knowing the person Viki is, she would want to get romantically involved with a man she has already divorced twice. Does that sound to you like the classy, self-assured Viki we all know and love? Yes, Jerry ver Dorn is a good actor, but the writers have been true to history for a change and they have given his version of Clint some of the old Clint’s traits, which is all the more reason why I can’t see Viki being romantically attracted to him again. They may write the storyline so that Viki wants him back, but it won’t make sense for Viki to want more than friendship with Clint as far as I’m concerned. And the way they have written her as being jealous lately just doesn’t sit well with me. Like I said, jealousy is one thing; Viki lowering herself to that humiliating display in The Palace was awful. Oh, and regarding Governor Brooks, I have to laugh because you’re right, I didn’t like him for Viki either and he turned out to be a major creep that was also not nearly good enough for her. Was I wrong about him? By the way, someone gave me statistics on the amount of airtime that recurring characters have had on the show and it was interesting to see that many recurring characters have had a lot more airtime than the contract players have had, including Erika Slezak. Also, we all know that someone can be hired for a couple of episodes, then strike a chord with the fans and have a long-term contract before you know it, so I don’t worry at all if someone new is a recurring character or not. They could hire a contract player who doesn’t catch on and he could be gone in a couple of months or go in a completely different direction on the show, so if Jerry was hired for Erika, does that mean it will automatically work? Hey, I’m all for waiting to see what develops, but let’s face it, Clint hasn’t shown himself to be worthy of Viki yet.
Andria writes: “I know I will probably get blasted for saying this but I maybe the only person in the universe that's loving this thing between Evangeline and Todd. I love the onscreen chemistry between them and the wise cracks make my day!! I know that Vangie's "been around the block” but really, we all have ex's that made us cringe and wonder what in the world was I thinking? Vangie is good people and good people do bad things sometimes. Let Vangie get a little down and dirty. All that's missing is the catfight between her and Blair. (God, I hope they have one!!) Why should Blair get to have all the fun! I say let Vange toss back a couple and go back to Cristian's place and let her tell him what a macho selfish jerk he really is. Puke on his shoes and pass out right there in his living room. Todd constantly reminds Evangeline that she is desirable and a good catch to any man (I can't hate any man that wants to remind me of my worth regardless of whom he is). And by the way, that necklace would have been worn by me for all to see whether it was meant for a ball gown or pajamas! Men that give diamond necklaces don't grow on trees, honey!!!!.....LOL”
Dear Andria: You are by far NOT the only person who loves Todd and Evangeline. Take my word for it. And aside from that comment, I have nothing else to say except that I’m just going to sit back and let everyone enjoy your funny (and on the mark) comments as I did. Thank you for the chuckle. We all need to remember it’s fiction and it’s supposed to be fun.
