Winter Park Ski Area Summer Activities in Colorado

    Amaze'n Mazes

    • Amaze'n Mazes offers a fun trek through a giant maze for the whole family to enjoy. These mazes aren't ordinary. Inside the mazes, guests must locate four "checkpoints" where they'll get their passport (received upon entry) stamped with a letter to spell the word "maze." The goal is not only to get through the maze and hit the checkpoints, but also to be the fastest to do so. When you enter the maze, your time will be marked on your pass. Once you think you've figured out how to navigate through the maze the right way, try doing it again (and again) to see what your fastest time is. A little friendly competition never hurt anyone, and Amaze'n Mazes offers just that. Even better, those who have the fastest time win prizes. You can also re-enter and try again for better prizes--or just to see what your personal best time is--if you want.

Dog Sled Rides of Winter Park

    • Located about 10 minutes outside of Winter Park, Dog Sled Rides of Winter Park offers sled rides when the ground is covered in snow or cart rides when there is no snow. In the summer, the dogs pull carts for about 3-1/2 miles while up to two guests (under 350 pounds combined) ride behind them. While you'll have a guide available to answer questions, offer guidance and take pictures, one passenger may steer the dogs for cart rides. During your cart ride, you may get to see traces of wildlife, such as tracks, or even actual wildlife. This opportunity is helpful for wildlife lovers as well as those who may enjoy sled rides but who can't take the frigid winter weather.

    Red Tail Rafting

    • In the middle of Colorado's hot and dry summers, being splashed--or drenched--by water is a refreshing treat. At Red Tail Rafting, they'll put their expertise to good use as they guide you in white-water rafting. This wet adventure is located just two miles outside of Winter Park. You'll travel along the Upper Colorado River in either Class II (mild) or Class III (moderate) rapids. They offer full-day trips, on which you'll receive a catered lunch, as well as half-day trips where snacks are provided. In addition, they offer cheaper rates for children between the ages of 4 and 13. Because you'll likely be soaked when you leave, Red Tail Rafting advises that you bring along clothes that dry fast, water shoes and a change of dry clothes for the ride home.
