How to Find the Thermal Fuse in a Kenmore Dryer

    • 1). Disconnect your dryer from the electrical outlet. Disconnect the dryer vent. The vent will likely be attached to your dryer's exhaust port by a metal clamp. Use a screwdriver to loosen the screw on the clamp until the vent is loose enough to slide off the exhaust port. Slide your Kenmore dryer out away from the wall far enough that you can comfortably access the rear panel of the dryer.

    • 2). Move around to the back of the dryer. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws holding the rear panel in place. Lift the rear panel up and set it to the side of the dryer.

    • 3). Locate the heating element housing on the left side of the dryer. It looks like a long metal can. Near the bottom of the heating element housing, just above the exhaust vent, will be the thermal fuse. Look for a white piece of plastic with wires sticking out of each end. Refer to the photo in the Resource section to see the location of the thermal fuse.
