Candy Ornament Crafts
- Making ornaments for the Christmas tree can be more enjoyable than purchasing them in the store. Many craft ideas are simple enough for children to assist with. Using edible items to make candy ornament crafts brings a unique look to a tree. Store these ornaments in sealed containers after the holidays to keep bugs away.
- Glue an unopened roll of hard candy onto a five-stick pack of chewing gum with a hot glue gun so that a little of the roll sticks out further than the gum pack on both ends. Glue two opened peppermint candies to each side to create the wheels of the train. Attach an unopened caramel or other square candy towards the back of the top of the roll of candy to create the cab area for the train conductor.
Turn a sealed triangular shaped candy upside down, and glue it towards the front of the top of the candy roll to make a smoke stack. Glue a mini chocolate bar to the top of the cab to make the roof. Loop a piece of string, and secure it to the middle of the train engine to hang it on the tree. - Glue two candy canes to the underside of a graham cracker. Attach two pieces of string to each candy cane, one in the front and one in the back. The strings can be secured by tying or gluing them. Gather the strings together above the sled, and knot them together. This will form a hanger for placing the sled on the tree.
Additions can be made to the sled, depending on what you would like it to carry. You can glue square candies on it to look like gifts, or sugar cubes for snow. - Hold a candy cane by the straight part with the rounded hook facing backward. Apply tiny googly eyes and a pompom nose to make the reindeer face. Wrap a small piece of a brown pipe cleaner around the top of the hook so that the ends are equal. Bend these upward to create antlers. Extra pieces of pipe cleaner can be connected to the main antler to make multiple branches. Tie a small piece of green ribbon below the face. Hang the candy cane reindeer on the tree by the hook.
