How to Pipe Butter Roses
- 1). Set a stick of butter on the counter, and allow it to warm for approximately 30 minutes. Peel the wrapper off the butter, stick it in the food processor and pulse the butter until it is smooth. The butter must still be cool to hold the rose shape.
- 2). Attach tip 12 to the piping bag, and fill the piping bag with the smooth butter. Twist the end of the bag closed to push the butter toward the tip.
- 3). Lay a piece of waxed paper on the flower nail. Hold the piping bag so the tip is pointed toward the waxed paper and the end of the bag is pointed toward the ceiling. Squeeze the bag. As the butter comes out, keep your tip down so the butter surrounds it. Slowly raise the tip and decrease the pressure you are putting on the bag. Stop pressing the bag, and pull the tip away from the rose base you just created.
- 4). Change the tip on the bag. Put tip 104 on the piping bag. Hold the flower nail in one hand and the piping bag in the other. Place the tip at the bottom of the rose base.
- 5). Squeeze the bag as you slowly spin the flower nail and move the tip up. The butter ribbon should look like a petal. Repeat the process at what would be 3 o'clock, 6 o'clock and 9 o'clock.
- 6). Put the tip on the middle of the rose base. The narrow end of the tip must be pointing up and the wide part must be touching the rose base. Turn the flower nail as you pipe the butter in an upward motion. The petal will have a half circle-shape. Put the tip on the petal you just created, slightly behind the end of the petal. Repeat the action two more times. You should have made three petals.
- 7). Put the wide end of tip below the center of one of the rose petals. Tilt the narrow end of tip away from the rose base. Begin making the middle rose petals by piping petals as you turn the nail like you did in Step 6. Make five petals.
- 8). Place the wide part of the tip on the rose, slightly lower than the petal's center. Tip the narrow end of the tip farther away from the rose than you did for the middle rose petals. Repeat Step 6 seven times. Your butter rose is now complete.
