Fun Slumber Party Ideas
- For a boy's slumber party, consider turning the party into a pirate theme and have the boys make treasure chests to bring home. Provide the group with small, unpainted wooden chests, let the boys paint the boxes and fill them with gold foil-wrapped chocolate coins. For a little girl's slumber party, have the girls decorate plain white pillowcases with fabric paints and markers. Older girls can make body glitter to bring home from aloe vera gel and polyester glitter, or bath salts, from Epsom salts, soap dye and soap fragrance drops.
- Organize the party around a cooking or baking theme or include one or two baking activities to keep the party group entertained. For dinner, the kids can make personal-size pizzas from pizza dough, pizza sauce, cheese and a variety of toppings. For dessert, have the group work together to make a chocolate-chip cookie pizza, and then decorate it with icing and candy toppings. Other evening baking ideas include brownies, fudge, crisped rice treats, cupcakes or sugar cookies that can also be decorated with icing and candies.
- For a party group of any age, set up an obstacle course, divide the group into two teams and have them race around the obstacle course, one member from each time at a time, in their sleeping bags. Have a glow-in-the-dark scavenger hunt by hiding glow-in-the-dark stars all around the party area or the home. Turn out all the lights after dark and arm the guests with flashlights to go on a hunt for the stars. The team or the child who finds the most stars wins the hunt. For a young party group, have them bring along a stuffed animal to the slumber party. Place all of the stuffed animals in a pile and put a blindfold on each guest. One at a time, the blindfolded guests must try to identify their own stuffed animal.
- For an all-girl slumber party, treat each guest to a few choice beauty treatments. Set up a "beauty service" table with nail files, toenail separators and nail polishes, hairbrushes, combs, hair clips, elastics and barrettes, and makeup that is appropriate for the age group. Ask a friend or two to help give the beauty treatments, or for a group of older children, let the girls treat each other to a makeover. For an older party group of teens or young women, hire a mobile spa service to provide the services instead.
