What Is a Good Design to Paint Bedroom Walls?
- After a long day at the office or running the kids from practice to practice you'll want a retreat to a place where you can unwind and relax. Interior designer Kim Benson of Kitchen and Bath Designs in Charlottesville, Virginia, says that cool and soothing colors are a must in an adult bedroom. "I like to use pale greens and soft blue grays in my client's rooms. Always select a relaxing color in your palette."
Benson also suggests painting an accent wall to create a focal point. "Steer away from wild, complicated designs and instead try an accent wall. Choose a darker, complementary color from your palette for one wall in the room. Hang a mirror or your favorite painting on that wall to complete the design." - Almost anything goes when it comes to painting a child's room. "You can bring in the bold, primary colors for a child's room," Benson says. "Let them choose the colors so it gives them a sense of independence."
Benson adds that painting fun designs such as large squares or ovals over the bed in a dark, complementary color gives the room added dimension. She says that striped walls are also popular in kid's rooms, but don't go stripe-crazy. Choose one or two walls to paint your design.
Another design for a child's room is to add a mural. "Hire an artist to paint a mural on one wall that compliments your child's interests," Benson suggests. "Paint your child's favorite comic book hero or a beautiful field of flowers in your daughter's room." She adds that you can also purchase inexpensive large rubber stamp stencils that you can dip in paint to create a border or - Your child's first room should have soft pastels, Benson says. "Stay away from the loud colors or wild designs and go with traditional pinks, blues, greens and yellows." She adds that some people are infusing the same color scheme they've used throughout their home in their baby's room too.
Borders and chair rails are nice in baby's rooms and many parents go for a beautiful mural on one wall. "Baby room murals tend to be more fantasy and perhaps feature a scene from a nursery rhyme."
