• 1). Place one quarter-sized squirt of red acrylic paint onto a clean color palette. If you do not have an artist's palette, a clean piece of cardboard about the length and width of your hand will do.

    • 2). Place one quarter-sized squirt of white acrylic paint about 2 inches away from the red acrylic paint on the palette.

    • 3). Using a paintbrush, scoop as much white paint as you can into the red and mix the two until a light red or bright pink color emerges evenly throughout the paint.

    • 4). Thoroughly rinse your paintbrush in a small bowl filled with clean, cool water.

    • 5). Dry the brush by dabbing the bristles on a paper towel or clean rag.

    • 6). Place the clean paintbrush into the white paint and again scoop as much white paint as you can into the red/pink paint. Mix the color evenly.

    • 7). Repeat the process of adding white paint to the pink mixture until you achieve the desired hue; the color of the paint should lighten with each application of white paint. Rinse and dry your brush before scooping more white paint each time.

    • 8). Add a small squirt of red paint if the color becomes too light. One drop from the red acrylic paint tube or, if you add a smaller, dime-sized squirt to the palette, a tiny bristle covering with the paintbrush will suffice. Rinse and dry your brush before scooping red paint each time.
