How to Make Shrinky Dink Photo Ornaments
- 1). Print your photo directly onto your Shrinky Dinks plastic with an inkjet printer. Close-up pictures of one or two main objects will work better than pictures with several objects that are small, as the pictures will shrink considerably.
- 2). Position the image you want to appear on the ornament in the center of a shape stencil, and trace the outline of the stencil onto the shrink plastic with a pencil.
- 3). Cut the shape out with scissors, and punch a hole near the top of the shape with a hole punch.
- 4). Bake the shrink plastic in the oven at 350 degrees F for three to five minutes on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Watch the plastic as it bakes. When the plastic flattens back out completely, remove it from the oven.
- 5). Allow the plastic to cool for at least five minutes.
- 6). Fold a 6-inch length of embroidery thread in half and knot the ends together.
- 7). Pass the folded end of the thread through the hole in the plastic, using a needle threader if necessary.
- 8). Push the knotted ends of the thread through the loop of the thread, and tighten the thread down on the ornament. You now have a way to hang your Shrinky Dink photo ornament.
