    V&A Museum of Childhood

    • This party venue combines fun with education. The museum's collections include antique toys, dolls' houses, games and teddy bears. The party itself takes place in a dedicated room seating up to 20 children, but optional activities include a story trail of the museum, and arts and crafts. As of 2010, standard rates start at £100 plus VAT (17.5 percent) for room hire for three hours. Extras costing more money include the activities, outside catering and goody bags, containing merchandise from the museum store.

      The London Eye, a modern-style Ferris wheel on the banks of the Thames, gives children a view across London and beyond. According to the official website, you can see as far as Windsor Castle, 40 miles outside the capital, on a clear day. A children's birthday party package includes hire of a private capsule for one hour, a birthday cake and drinks. Adults get a glass of champagne. As of 2010, it costs £29.50 per person for a minimum of 10, including at least three adults.

    • Eddie Catz in Putney, just outside Central London, caters to children from age 0 to age 10. The venue has soft indoor play areas and rides designed especially for babies and toddlers, with interactive video games and activities for older children. Eddie Catz aims to educate as well as entertain. As of 2010, party prices begin at £10 per head for toddlers and £13.50 for older children. The cost includes private room hire, party bags, food and activities.
