How to Make a Pin from a Bottle Cap
- 1). Select a bottle cap, wash it with soap and water. Dry.
- 2). Select a colorful paper or fabric. Photographs, vintage magazines, invitations, art brochures and fabrics (including old, no longer needed clothes) can all be re-used and re-purposed.
- 3). Cut the paper of fabric in a circle so that it fits inside the bottle cap bezel. Take care that the cut material completely covers the bottom of the bottle cap.
- 4). If you are using paper, coat the paper with a clear drying glue (such as Mod Podge® or Elmer's) so that the paper does not bleed when covered with epoxy resin. Allow the glue to dry.
- 5). Mix the epoxy resin according to the manufacturers instructions.
- 6). Place the prepared paper or fabric into the bottle cap bezel and pour the epoxy resin until the bottle cap cavity is full. The design in the paper or fabric will be magnified by the epoxy. Let the resin dry overnight or according to the manufacturers instructions.
- 7). Once the resin is dry, turn the bottle cap over and glue the pin findling on the back of the bottle cap with epoxy resin or other metal to metal glue.
