Ideas for Simple Halloween Party Foods

    Dips

    • Create easy Halloween dips by adding green food coloring to the dish. For example, add a couple of drops of green food coloring to a bowl of cheese dip to create "booger dip" or "slime." Another easy idea for a hard cheese dip is a cheese o' lantern. Decorate a cheeseball using a green pepper. Use the stem of the green pepper to create the "pumpkin stem" on the cheeseball. Cut triangular pieces out of the green pepper to make the cheese o' lantern's face. Serve on a tray with crackers.

    Appetizers

    • Make witch fingers with band-aids by wrapping pieces of croissant rolls around cocktail wieners. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes and serve with a bowl of "bloody" ketchup. For another great appetizer, try bat wings. Take cooked, plain chicken wings and prepare a wing sauce. Wing sauces are available premade at most grocery stores. Before mixing the wings in the wing sauce, add four or five drops of black food coloring. Serve the bat wings on a tray with ranch or bleu cheese.

    Food

    • For a main food dish, create a few Jack o' lantern burgers. Make hamburger patties and place them on the bottom bun. Use a sharp paring knife to make Jack o' lantern faces in cheese slices and place the slices on each hamburger patty. Place the top of the hamburger buns in a bowl next to the burgers. Guests can add their own toppings to their Jack o' lantern burger. You can also create a large mummy pizza by layering long strips of mozzarella cheese on top of any store bought pizza. Use green olives to create the mummy's eyes.

    Desserts

    • Stick wood craft sticks in the end of several bananas and freeze them overnight. Dip the frozen bananas in white chocolate and lay on wax paper to dry. Use black candy gel icing to draw eyes and a mouth on each "ghost." For an easy pumpkin cake, frost a round bundt cake with orange icing. Use the end of a banana or the end of an ice cream cone cup as the pumpkin's stem. Frost the "stem" with green icing. You can make green and orange icing by mixing food coloring with white icing.
