Samoa - Kick Back & Relax in the Tropics

When you think tropical getaway, you imagine pristine beaches, colourful fish darting about the reefs, peace, quiet and relaxation.
Yet for many, the tropical holiday is far from peaceful and quiet.
The beaches are often crowded with hundreds of other people all wishing they had the beach to themselves, the reefs are overloaded with flashy cruisers taking large groups of divers to see what was supposed to be your moment communing with nature, and you'd be forgiven for thinking you are still at home, but perhaps with better weather.
If you are looking for total relaxation, away from all the action found in the more common tropical destinations, but can't deny you would still enjoy the comfort of a resort atmosphere, with day spas, water sports and entertainment, the tiny island of Samoa in the heart of the South Pacific is the destination for you.
Samoa is an island relatively untouched by tourism, where you can enjoy the creature comforts of some lovely up market resort locations such as Aggie Greys Beach & Lagoon Resort, or Sinalei Reef Resort, yet still be guaranteed of a completely serene experience walking the beaches that may be dotted here and there with a few visitors, but more often than not in my experience are totally empty, and all yours.
The colourful fish dart around your ankles as you paddle in the water, or of you like you can snorkel in water with a temperature that is 29°C all year round.
If you want to commune with nature Kayaking tours can be organised for the experienced as well as the beginner which is a wonderful way to experience the dolphins and the turtles found in Samoan waters.
Or you can paddle along a river through the rain forests and spot the 11 endemic bird species or large fruit bat found only in Samoa.
If that isn't close enough for you, you can swim with the green turtles in a natural water hole where they are bred for release into the wild.
Can you imagine anything more serene than practicing yoga with an experienced local instructor on a secluded beach or surrounded by dense tropical rain forest with no-one else but you and Taialofa, your Raw Shakti instructor? You can spend your days by the pool, playing a round of golf, sleeping on the quiet beaches, snorkelling the reefs, or driving around the quiet empty roads taking in the visual splendour that abounds in this divine tropical location.
Samoa, put it on your list of must visit destinations.
