NLP - A Bad Word You Should Get Rid of If You Want Success
Do you know people who always say: "I should be doing that" or "I really shouldn't act like that"? These people even give advice saying: "frankly, I believe you should do that, yes, you really have to do it right now" These people live with the "obligation map" always with them.
They eat with it, they study with it, and they act with it.
They even feel they have to carry it all the time, wherever they go.
It is a must for them.
Usually, these people are stressed or depressed because they have to do things, they feel obligated, they don't give themselves permission to leave this "obligation map" in a closet for a day.
"Shoulds" have come from many sources including your parents and yourself.
Many "shoulds" can be eliminated from your life.
This is not a bad word per se but it will be devastating for you and others in the long run.
These are giving you undue guilt and negative self-talk.
Living with "should" will not help you continue your life in a healthy way.
It always make you feel very much bothered.
Getting rid of them is not easy, especially if you're used to use this word everyday, for the past 40 years, but there is a way.
Give yourself permission to leave the "obligation map" just for a day in your favorite closet to begin with and replace it by the "possibility map".
Train yourself to say things like "It is possible to do that", "I can do it today...
or maybe tomorrow, why not".
Give yourself permission to do something different everyday.
Also do the following Make a list of "shoulds" that you can eliminate.
Try writing these down on a paper and set them aside.
Write down specific and creative ways you can stop them.
Think of this deeply and emotionally.
Give yourself permission to do that.
Always be optimistic that you can do it with no hard time.
Give yourself permission to think outside the box.
And think that if you have not done those things in the past, you can still accomplish them today or even in the near future.
Stop using the word "should" instead you can possibly replace it with "would".
Always think that you are still young and the mistakes that you have done in the past will always have a time to get corrected.
Instead try to live using the word "Would".
This may be a little difficult at first, but I am pretty sure that you will be getting used to it after some time.
