Tretinoin Is A Sure Cure For Acne

This is a product that I use myself and I know that it really works. I’ve suffered from bouts of acne on and off for years and never found a treatment that made any difference, until I read about Tretinoin (also known as Retin-A, Avita and Renova) in the health column of a national newspaper. Always eager to find a new acne treatment, I visited my doctor straightaway for a prescription. I tried it and it worked – just like that!

Tretinoin is an easy to apply cream which contains a natural derivative of Vitamin A. It deals with acne by exfoliating the top layers of the skin and this removes the blocked pores that cause acne, blackheads and whiteheads. When you use Tretinoin, you are increasing skill cell turnover and exposing the lower layers of the skin and what you are left with is very smooth, unmarked skin – and a big smile! In addition, if you continue to use Tretinoin cream regularly your acne will never return!

It is important to use Tretinoin in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and be aware of the mild side-effects. For example, the effect of increased skin cell turnover can be irritation and flaking of the skin. This leads some people to stop using it after only a few days and claim that it didn’t work. However, Tretinoin only starts giving noticeable results after about 4 – 6 weeks, so you need to be patient and give it time to work.

In my own case, I could see an improvement after the first two weeks and that encouraged me to continue the treatment until every last trace of acne was removed from my skin. When you have spent years of your life trying to hide your ugly spots, having to wait a few weeks for a cure is no time at all!

Here are some tips on how to use Tretinoin:
  • At first only use the cream every second night. Apply a thin layer to the affected area before you go to bed.
  • Wash the treated area each morning with a rough flannel or a mild facial scrub, to help remove any flaking skin.
  • Then use a water-based moisturizing cream, to counteract the drying effect of the Tretinoin.
  • Use a sunscreen if you are going to be exposed to the sun.
  • You will notice the irritation and flaking most during the first couple of weeks, but after that your skin will be used to it and the flaking will decrease. If you get noticeable flaking during the day, just rub over your skin with a wash cloth and some mild soap and water and this will remove the flakes.

By the way, don’t be fooled into buying incredibly expensive skin creams that contain “Retinol”, because it’s not the same thing as buying pure Tretinoin/Retin A and it won’t cure your acne. Tretinoin is inexpensive to buy online or over the counter at pharmacies in some countries, although in other places you need a prescription.
