How to Dehydrate Oranges

    • 1). Wash the oranges and slice them into thin, even slices using a sharp-bladed knife.

    • 2). Turn on a controlled heating device or place the sliced oranges in a warm location such as a conventional oven where they can heat to 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

    • 3). Wait 45 hours before removing the oranges. The oranges should be brittle and completely dried. Dried oranges will begin to mold if any moisture resides inside of the fruit.

    • 4). Store the oranges in a dry, airtight container in a dark, cool location. Light causes discoloration of the oranges and they may lose flavor if put in teas and spices.

    • 5). Discard the orange peels or dehydrate them. Dehydrating the peels takes about 10 hours at 100 degrees Fahrenheit and they then can be used as flavoring or scents.
