Attractions Found in Sint Maarten

Although Sint Maarten has many beautiful beaches, there are many other special attractions as well. Christopher Columbus discovered Sint Maarten in 1493 during his numerous voyages. Sint Maarten is included within the Netherlands Antilles, and the Dutch culture is clearly apparent. This so-called "friendly island" has been popular for many generations, albeit for different reasons. Different European nations at war used to fight over the island, and it is a preferred destination in the entire Caribbean where people from different parts of the world flock.

Sint Maarten has 37 beautiful beaches where you will enjoy both the sand and crystal-clear water. There are several features that make Mullet Bay stand out. Apart from the great attraction of the water, there are some hotel ruins that can be explored. If you are a golf lover, there is a special golf course where you can enjoy your passion.

The Dawn Beach, on the other hand, is popular for its calm waters and white sand. For some peaceful, rejuvenating moments, this is an ideal destination.

Orient Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Sint Maarten, where different water sports are conducted. For those who like taking part in activities tanning, this is the place to head to. If you don't mind seeing many nude human bodies, then you can venture to the eastern end of the beach, where people strip down to their birthday suits!

Baie Longue is the longest beach in Sint Maarten but many people do not frequent it because of its distance from the city center. However, this gives you a good opportunity to get away from the bustle of crowds. Other beaches that you can consider are Happy Bay, Friar's Bay, and Maho Beach.

The Sint Maarten Park will let you enjoy nature in a different way. This is the largest zoo in the entire Caribbean, which is home to more than 80 species of mammals, reptiles, and birds. Here, visitors can find the largest number of exotic parrots in these regions.

The Guavaberry Emporium is a special museum with a free tour that focuses solely on this berry. Get the chance to sample different products manufactured from guavaberry.

The Butterfly Farm provides a home for exotic butterflies in various stages of development. Early in the morning, they can be seen getting out of their cocoons. Enjoy watching these lovely creatures that seem to float on the air. Wearing brightly-colored clothes and perfume can attract butterflies to you.
