How to Edit Windows Registry

Before you start to edit Windows Registry, you must first do a very important step which is to create a back up.
The back up will restore the entire system registry in case something unexpected happens.
After securing a back up proceed to accessing the Registry Editor.
Select Start, and then choose Run from the start menu.
Type "regedit" on the text box provided at the Run window.
The Registry Editor window will appear on your screen.
This Window gives you access to certain registry keys and allows you to view and edit its stored values.
This is how to edit a registry from the Registry Editor Window; right-click on the values that you wish to modify and choose "Modify" from the drop down menu.
The Edit String window will appear on your screen.
Insert changes on the "Value data" text box.
It is important to always double check proper changes especially when dealing with registry path.
Once the changes have been made select the "OK" button followed by the Registry Editor Exit button to finish the process.
This on the other hand is how to edit a registry by deleting; choose a key from the "Registry Editor" window right-click on the values that you wish to eliminate.
Choose "Delete" from the drop down menu then click Exit Registry editor to finish the delete process.
Manual registry editing can come in handy when you need to remove malicious files that can not be detected by the computer's anti-virus.
However, this process can be very crucial as it can cause the computer's system to fail if even a single registry was erroneously modified.
This is the reason why registry cleaner software programs were introduced to the market.
This software automatically identifies and fixes all kinds of registry errors without exposing the Windows Registry database.
